TCF stands for Test de connaissance du français.
Yes, it is an official French test recognized by:
– the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation,
– the directorate for integration and access to nationality under the aegis of the Ministry of the Interior,
– the Ministry of Culture,
– the Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration of Quebec (MIFI),
– universities and higher education establishments.
Yes, there are several types of TCF. It is therefore necessary to choose the TCF that corresponds to its objective.
The TCF Integration, Residence and Nationality (IRN) is a certification intended for people wishing to:
– request for French nationality
– request for a long-term residence permit
– validate your level of French as part of the OFII citizen course
The TCF Québec is a test requested by the Québec authorities as part of an application for the issuance of a permanent visa. It is required for all nationalities as well as French and French speakers.
The TCF Canada is a test designed for all people who need to validate their level of French as part of the process of economic immigration to Canada or obtaining Canadian citizenship.
The all-public TCF meets several needs. He can be taken to validate his/her level of French for professional, personal, or academic reasons.

Etoile Institut also offers a program that includes the TCF. Indeed, all students enrolled in our Le Certifiant program take the TCF at the end of their course.
It is possible to start every Monday except for beginners who must refer to the calendar.
Le Certifiant is aimed at students of all levels: beginner, elementary, intermediate, and advanced.
All students benefit from the registration and taking of the TCF in our examination center as soon as they are registered for a period of 8 weeks in the program Le Certifiant.
Le Certifiant is offered in two formulas, Standard or Intensive.
The exam consists of 3 compulsory tests:
– oral comprehension
– mastery of language structures
– written comprehension
The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) or the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are diplômas valid for life. As part of the DELF or DALF, the candidate chooses to pass a level: DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DALF C1 and DALF C2. To obtain the diploma, it will be necessary to obtain a minimum of 50/100 points. As part of the TCF the six levels of knowledge of French defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe are evaluated. Depending on the score, the candidate will know his level of French and will receive a certification valid for two years.
– A1 not reached: 0 to 100 points
– A1: 101 to 199 points
– A2: 200 to 299 points
– B1: 300 to 399 points
– B2: 400 to 499 points
– C1: 500 to 599 points
– C2: 600 to 699 points
Yes, regardless of the program you follow it is possible to register for a DELF or DALF exam. Please note that by registering for the Le Diplômant program, registration and taking a DELF or DALF exam is included.
