Certify your level of French for academic, professional or personal reasons.
Designed to meet the growing demand for mobility, the Tout Public test is of particular interest to students, companies and international organizations. It has been recognized by the conferences of higher education establishments (CPU, CDEFI, CGE) and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
The Tout Public test assesses the candidate's current level, from A1 (lowest) to C2 (highest).
Which test to choose?
There are two types of state-approved examinations:
- The TEF: created and corrected by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris - Île de France
- The TCF: created and corrected by France Education International
They have the same value, are graded in the same way and include the same tests.

The day of the exam
The exam consists of:
3compulsory tests - computer-based (results displayed on screen after the test, provisional certificate issued the same day).
Listening comprehension :
in a group examination room, multiple-choice questions.
Mastery of language structures :
in a group examination room, multiple-choice questions.
Reading comprehension :
in a group examination room, multiple-choice questions.
2 additional optional tests.
Oral expression :
individual interview with an examiner.
Written expression :
group examination room - computer-based test.
Your certificate
Certificates are valid for 2 years from the date of correction of the session.
In the event of unsatisfactory results, you can retake the exam, subject to a 30-day waiting period between each test of the same type, and repayment of the registration fee.
