Integration, Residence and Nationality Tests
Certify your level of French with the prefectures.
This test is intended for candidates over the age of 16 who wish to perform :
- An application for French nationality (level B1)
- Application for a long-term residence permit (A2 level)
- Validation of A1 level as part of the OFII citizenship program
- Renewal of professional security guard card (level B1)
- Entry-level training in safety (level B1)
Any result beyond "B1 achieved" will not be mentioned on the certificate of achievement.
Which test to choose?
There are two types of state-approved examinations:
- The TEF: created and corrected by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris - Île de France
- The TCF: created and corrected by France Education International
They have the same value, are graded in the same way and include the same tests.

The day of the exam
Listening comprehension :

Reading comprehension :

Written expression :

individual interview with an examiner.
Your certificate
Certificates are valid for 2 years from the date of correction of the session. In the event of unsatisfactory results, you may retake the exam, subject to a period of 30 days between retakes of the same type of test and repayment of the registration fee.
